Weekend Toast 8/2/20

Sharing is caring!

The Weekend Toast series is a collection of recently published articles by other bloggers that I put together to share. Consider this your one-stop-shop for remaining up-to-date on being a badass.

So, grab your drink of choice, put your feet up and get ready to read!

This week: paying off a mortgage, personal finance books, cheap flights, creating local bucket lists, challenging the life script, COVID silver linings, making money from your passions.

Cheers! (and stay safe everyone)

Most people don’t prioritize paying off their mortgage (from what I’ve seen). Often I think its because the interest rates are generally lower, and so there is less concern surrounding the payments overall. Bitches Get Riches tells a story of how their mortgage was paid off in 4 years and why they pursued it. Check it out and see if this resonates with your financial plan: The Real Story of How I Paid Off My Mortgage in 4 Years

Want to learn more about finances? Bella Wanna has the Ultimate Personal Finance Book List. Many of these are considered to be popular, finance classics, and can give you a solid base of information, plus help motivate you along your financial journey.

Need a way to save on flights? and future travels? Do you have flexible travel dates and schedules and want some options to stick to your travel budget? Check out Scott’s cheap flights. Money Saved Money Earned tells you all about them: Scott’s Cheap Flights: Get Cheap Flights Without Even Trying

Sometimes you can’t travel the way you want to. Flying and going abroad may be impossible, so local trips are your only option. This can take the form of local exploring and staycations, or taking road trips (check out this link for road trips around the world). Minafi gives us an example of a local bucket list that he’s been working on. See if some of these options are possible for you! Why You Should Create a Local Bucket List

What is the life script? What is it that we’ve been told since childhood that we need to do in life? As a woman, it’s definitely to get married and have kids, +/- pursue a career. Partners in FIRE delves into this subject and asks a bunch of questions and challenges the scripts that we are told. Check it out: Subverting the Life Script.

With life moving as a yo-yo, with activities opening and then closing, accessibility increasing and decreasing, there’s a lot of gloom and doom in our thoughts. However, there are plenty of lessons to be learned from this pandemic. If nothing else, taking some time to reflect and learn them is one way to come out of this a better person. Xrayvsn also gives us some silver linings to consider in his post: The Silver Linings in the Dark Covid-19 Cloud.

Want to find your passions and make money from them? Reverse the crush tells you exactly how to figure tat out: How to Find Purpose and Passion (and Make Money from it)
